INTERNATIONAL & PUBLIC AFFAIRS SUB-COMMITTEE

This sub-committee covers three main areas of public concern – International Affairs, Home Affairs and Environment, and Rural Affairs.  We deal with all aspects of the Resolutions, starting with the sifting of the long list sent from the National Federation.  This proceeds to the Resolution Selection Day when we cast our Federation votes on the selected shortlist.  Finally we have Resolution Information Day when we provide information on the Resolutions chosen nationally for discussion and voting in individual Institutes.  Members of this Committee are available if requested to give presentations on the Resolutions to aid the voting process.

Please look at our Campaigns and Resolutions Page to see details of what we have been discussing recently both locally and nationally.

We arrange events in different parts of the county connected with current local and national topics.  We promote all aspects of sustainable development and associated science and health problems.

We belong to ACWW (Associated Countrywomen of the World), and are involved in organising the annual Pennies for Friendship collection, which goes towards projects for improving quality of life in less developed countries.

We also help to formulate Norfolk's response to National Federation consultative documents (both National WI and general) on complex current issues.

Members represent the Norfolk Federation on many outside bodies such as the Norfolk Rural Community Council, Community Health Councils, Citizens' Advice Bureau, Age Concern, Carers' Forum, WREN (Waste Recycling) and others.  These representations often lead to active involvement in topical issues and the committee always welcomes ideas and comments from members.  Please contact us if we can help you in any way.
